Danika Dinsmore
Danika Dinsmore is a Vancouver
poet, performer, educator, and literary activist. She holds a BA in English
& a teaching credential from California Lutheran University, an MFA in Writing
and Poetics from Naropa University's Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics,
and an Advanced Certificate in Screenwriting from the University of Washington.
In 1996, with Paul Nelson, she co-founded the Northwest SPokenword LAB (SPLAB),
a non-profit literary arts center in Auburn, WA and acted as Executive Director
until Fall of 1998. She also produced the 2001 and 2002 Seattle Poetry Festivals
while serving as Executive Director of Eleventh Hour Productions. She has performed
and taught poetry & spokenword workshops at various literary arts venues
around the country and also in British Columbia & Vienna, Austria. In 1998
she was granted funding from King County Arts Commission to develop a curriculum
guide for teaching poetry. In 1999 she won the Washington Poets Association
Award for Performance Poetry. She has been facilitating a collaborative experimental
writing project called the 3:15 Experiment since 1993 (www.315experiment.com),
portions of which were published in The 3:15 Experiment (with Lee Ann
Brown, Jen Hofer, and Bernadette Mayer) by The Owl Press. Her other publications
include: traffic (1996), all over the road (Spokenword CD,
2000), and every day angels and other near-death experiences (2002).
